OmegaNet Inc. and GiftsWholesale.Com Celebrate 10 YearsAt the GHTA conference in La Jolla, California, November 15 - 17, OmegaNet Inc. and GiftsWholesale.Com kicked off a celebration of 10 years in business. OmegaNet was founded in November, 1997 and the web site GiftsWholesale.Com was established in February, 1998. Many of the company's clients are located in the America's Mart, but the company has clients in all regions of the United States as well as Canada.
Over the past 10 years, the company has created more than 250 web sites for gift, decor, garden, furniture, and apparel wholesalers and retailers powered by the company's proprietary CAMEO© software, which includes e-commerce and site building features. CAMEO EZ© is the latest incarnation of the software. OmegaNet Inc. president Toni Ivey (right) and vice president Gary Ivey served birthday cake to more than 100 GHTA conference attendees. Company founder Toni Ivey had been a distributor, importer and sales rep doing as many as 20 trade shows per year. She decided the Internet was the next sales channel that would open up for the industry, so she and husband Gary Ivey began learning about web site design and created GiftsWholesale.Com to showcase their own products and those they represented. But soon others wanted their own web sites. At first GiftsWholesale.Com did not have online ordering and a quick survey of available software showed there was virtually no shopping cart software available that allowed for the needs of wholesalers, so the fledgling company hired a programmer to write shopping cart software for GiftsWholesale.Com. Gradually, features such as user editable web pages, trade show management, and sales rep contact management was added to the software that became known as CAMEO©, which stood for Complete Automated Merchant Electronic Ordering. The company also arranged to lease a web server to host web sites and offer email services. Because of the company's location in the Atlanta, Georgia area, many clients are located in America's Mart, but the company has clients in all regions of the United States as well as Canada. The company has continued to grow in the power and flexibility of its CAMEO EZ software, as well as the number of its clients, and has recently added services in Internet Marketing. More than 300 members of The Gift and Home Trade Association gathered in La Jolla, California for the association's annual conference November 15-17. The membership of the association, which was formerly known as United Sales Agents (USA), is composed of Gift and Home Decor Sales Agents and Manufacturers. Featured Vendors in GiftsWholesale.Com

More "Made In USA"Last month's Gift and Home Retailer News featured manufacturers who make their products in America. One impetus for the special issue was the news of problems with lead paint and other ingredients with products coming from China. More such news continues to appear and there are more manufacturers to note. Ata Boy features licensed magnets and other items. Maison de Vie offers over six hundred different products, all of which are made by hand and manufactured in the company’s facility in Connecticut. With "gentle and natural" in mind, the finest natural ingredients are developed into spa formulas and therapies created to pamper the skin and the senses. This is the cornerstone philosophy of their numerous collections of natural based personal spa products. Product lines include Bath Oil, Bubble Bath, Bath Salt, French Milled Guest Soap, Body & Hand Lotion, Gift Sets, Spa Basics, Table Top and Fragrant Home Decor. On the other end of the country, in Los Angeles, California, is Ata Boy, which makes a variety of licensed products featuring Elvis, Lucy, Barbie, Betty Boop, DC Comics characters and much more. Ata Boy aims to be the one stop wholesale magnet source and a supplier of innovative novelty items, including nite lites, magnets, mousepads, keychains and bracelets. While some components may come from overseas, the magnets are made in the USA.
