National Trade Shows: Big and Getting Bigger
After slumping a bit during the recession a few years ago, the national Gift and Home trade shows have come back in a big way, with several announcing expansions for the summer show season.
In Dallas, Texas, (where everything is bigger, right?) Dallas Market Center's Total Home & Gift Market June 19-25 will debut 166,000 square feet of new, expanded and/or renewed showrooms (source). “We are thrilled to welcome new companies to Dallas and congratulate the expansions and continuing commitments to our marketplace,” said Cindy Morris, president and CEO of Dallas Market Center. Gift is the largest product category at Dallas Market Center, but the new, expanded space also encompasses floral, holiday and gourmet. The June show will also feature 100,000 square feet of new home décor and lighting exhibitors.
Las Vegas Market is adding 60,000 square feet of new showrooms for Summer 2019 July 28-Aug. 1. “The number of gift resources available at Las Vegas Market continues to grow market-over-market and Building C now presents more than 2,700 gift lines in nearly 450,000 square feet of permanent showrooms on seven floors,” said Dave Savula, executive vice president of gift and apparel leasing for International Market Centers (source). Las Vegas Market devotes 4 million square feet to furniture, with showrooms featuring more than 2,000 furniture lines on 31 floors (source). Las Vegas Market bills itself as the leading home furnishings and gift market in the western U.S.
Buyers shop the temporary booths in Atlanta
Atlanta's AmericasMart boasts of 8,000 brands across all categories of gift and home décor at its International Gift and Home Furnishings Market July 9-15 (source). Nineteen floors are devoted to 700 gift showrooms, including Gourmet & Housewares, Tabletop & Gift, The Gardens and Children's World. and 300 showrooms on 12 floors feature home décor, including furniture, rugs and much more. Permanent apparel showrooms will also be open during the market.
