Trade Show Calendars Mostly Normal After COVID
Industry trade event schedules are beginning to look more like they did before the COVID lockdowns, which began in March, 2020. A few are still featuring virtual events, which may continue as a way to extend the reach of in-person trade shows. Twice each year this newsletter takes a look at what's happening at the industry trade shows.
Dallas World Trade Center Atrium
Las Vegas Market, operated by International Market Centers (IMC), had postponed its winter show until April, 2021, but the August show is about the same time as always. A recent news release emphasizes four Gift & Home Trends:
- "80's Beats" looks at 80's influences on all market segments.
- "Early to Rise" features bright colors with a family- and wellness-focus.
- "Home & Away" looks at the pandemic's impact on home and travel.
- "Special Effects" looks at abstract patterns, translucent and irredescent materials.
The Atlanta Market at America's Mart is also operated by IMC and will be held as usual in July. "Growing comfort in attending in-person buying and selling events plus investment from key industry organizations working to get their members back to business is driving expansion of the Atlanta Market temporary collection with nearly 1,000 lines anticipated for the Summer 2021 Market, July 14-18," according to a news release.
NY Now will be open at its usual time Aug. 8-11, 2021 after being unable to be open for the August, 2020, and February, 2021, shows. For a time, the show's venue, the Javits center, was utilized by the city as a field hospital.
Dallas Market Center announced recently that masks are no longer required at the June market June 23-29 for those who have been vaccinated. The Lone Star State mart is reporting new buyer registration is up more than 50% over previous years.
