Highland Graphics Introduces new Artist/Photographer to the Gift Industry![]() Carson's photographs have been utilized on new Highland Graphics products. If you saw some beautiful and fresh floral pictures on products this show season, it just may have been the work of photographer Anna Carson. Anna's vibrant images of sunflowers, daisies, and other flowers have been artistically captured on several products from leading gift industry company Highland Graphics Born and raised in the southern United States and now based out of Atlanta, she was a stay-at-home mom for 14 years. Anna's photography grew from a hobby to a passion to a profession while living in London, England recently. She was inspired by the beautiful English gardens and unique architecture around her on a daily basis. She strives to capture things found in her daily life through her lens and share them creatively with others. In all, 7 of Anna's images appear on product such as absorbent coasters and desk clocks. Anna even helped develop and design her own collection of sun catchers for Highland, featuring photographed pressed flower imagery. In addition to florals, Anna has an amazing portfolio of landscapes, portraits, and casual moments of life. Her philosophy of photography uses natural light with little editing other than for artistic purposes. China-made Product Prices Likely To Rise After RecallsHasbro Inc, the second-largest U.S. toy company, says it expects a 14-to-15 percent increase in the costs of made-in-China products due to higher labor, commodity and currency costs, according to a story on the Financial Times web site. Additional product safety testing after last year's US toy safety recalls will also be a factor. (source) Toys may not be the only products affected and, since most products in the Gift, Garden and Home Decor sectors come from China, retailers may see those price increases passed on in the wholesale prices they pay. Last year’s recalls out of China included products as diverse as tainted wheat gluten and toothpaste, in addition to toys. Other factors driving prices of made-in-China goods include a 5-15% levy imposed on exports by the Chinese government last July and a recent revaluation of the Chinese Yuen, which has driven real labor costs higher. China's growing economy, the world's fourth largest, may cause inflation itself to become one of its exports, as demand for the country's cheap goods escalates. (source) U.S. retail sales of toys generated $22.1 billion in 2007 compared to $22.6 billion in 2006, a decline of only 2 percent, despite the toy industry recalls and difficult economic conditions that plagued the industry in 2007.
